Mildred Boykin Raper, 97, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2016 surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Mildred was born April 11, 1919 in Wilson County to the late Sheldon D. Boykin and Nancy Williamson Boykin. For many years she was a nurse’s aide at Eastern Wake Hospital where she gave loving care to everyone she met.   

A service to celebrate Mildred’s life will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the funeral home. 

Surviving: daughters: Geraline “Geri” Gilmore (Tim), Carolyn Raper, Vickie R. Pulley (Thomas), Brenda Raper; son, Larry Raper; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Mavis Eudy, Ann Mizzelle. 

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by children: Janice Faye Anderson, James Ray Raper, Willard Michael Raper; great-grandchildren: Kendall, Brittany, Renee; 4 brothers.
