We were fortunate to get to know Dexter when he would come into the Columbus County Airport. It was always a pleasure to visit with him. He spoke of his family with loving pride. Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. We know he is sorely missed.

Nancy and family, Lola and I were sad to read of your husband's passing away. While we did not know him personally, we still feel hurt for you and your children's families. We were also unaware until today that Mrs. Bashford had passed away in 2014. You have a heavy load to bear but please let your friends help when they offer, and receive the comfort that comes from our God and His Son. Please give our best to your brother and sister for us and know we will remember you in our prayers. Randall and Lola Dail

It is with great sadness to hear about Dexter passing. I work for Mitchell Community College and knew Dexter as our sales rep from The Braswell Co. but what I remember most is his kindness and love for The Lord! He will be greatly missed and my heartfelt prayers go out to all of his family and friends

Dexter was a sales rep for our college for many years. The Mitchell Community College folks often had lunch with him as his representation of Braswell Co. He was a wonderful Christian Man and I know he will be miss. May you find peace at this time knowing he was a great witness for the Lord and he influenced those who knew him.

Sadly, I have not had the opportunity to spend time with Decky for many years. He has, however, held a special place in my heart since we became friends at the age of seven. We continued a shared path for the next eleven years through high school graduation. We spent many hours laughing and complaining together in classes. But what I remember most is cheering him on from the sidelines, because if there was a sport to play, you could bet your bottom dollar Decky Stell would be on the team. He was truly a joy to watch because he played with his whole heart, which is how I imagine he lived his life.
My prayer for Decky's family and friends is peace to bring you comfort, the courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
Godspeed, Decky!

Dear Nancy and Family,

We were all so sorry to hear of Decky's passing. I never once saw him without a smile on his face and a kind word.

I will also never forget that he gave me my first and only airplane ride to Virginia. What an experience that was for me and such an enjoyable trip. But I will admit that I was just a "little" skeptical. These are some of the wonderful memories that I will forever hold dear.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this difficult and sad time.

Love,

Dear Nancy A.G tori Catherine Zack and fletcher. Mere words cannot describe the feeling I had for dexter. He was the most fun loving gracious and pure hearted man other than my dad that I had ever met. He could always make me smile and always had a funny story to tell. I will miss his smile his humor and his all around love for life and caring nature. Please note that I'm just up the street if you ever need anything. May God bless you and keep you in this very sad time. I love you guys so much. I pray for heeling in Jesus name. Amen

The Pippin Family would like to express our deepest sympathy to Nancy and the Stell Family. Upon joining Bay Leaf Baptist, Mr. Decky and Mrs. Nancy served as the Sunday School teachers for our youngest daughter, Hannah, and helped our family feel so welcome and comfortable at Bay Leaf. Decky's sense of humor was a perfect match for our Hannah and our family has been blessed by the Stell family ever since. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
