William Stewart Dove, Sr., 83, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Bill was born in Rock Hill, SC to the late Lloyd E. Dove and Hattie Kee Dove. He was the great-grandson of Samuel B. Dove, who was a part of the 17th South Carolina Reg. This regiment was known for its valor which suffered 80% casualties during the course of the War Between the States.  William Dove joined the marines under aged and was shipped to the Korean War in 1950.  He was assigned to the 1st Marine Division, Baker Company.  He was a B.A.R. Rifleman during his 1 ½ year tour in Korea.  William Dove was one of the last few remaining survivors of Baker Co. William was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him.  He was very active and loved sports to the very end of his active life.  He will be sorely missed.  We love you. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 27, 2016 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park, 809 W. Gannon Ave., Zebulon, 27597 with Military Honors.

 The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the funeral home.

 Surviving: wife of 63 years, Helen Louise Coffer Dove; children: William Stewart “Billy” Dove, Jr. (Janet), Joshua Dove (Kelly), Kathy Dove-Allen (Donald), Brenda Dove-Yates (Stanley), Pamela Wilchek (Mike), Angel Ratliff (Robbie); 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
