Sarah Johnson Barnes, 79, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017. She was born December 18, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Julius Waylon Johnson and Ernestine Partin Johnson. She worked as a Financial Counselor at Wake Med for 28 years.                             

Funeral service 2:30 pm, Sunday, December 17, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. Burial Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at the funeral home. 

Surviving: son, Willard “Bill” Vaden Barnes, Jr. (Susan); grandchildren: Rebekah B. McCall, Jeremy Vaden Barnes (Julie), Daniel Christian Barnes; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia J. Creech; numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Vaden Barnes, Sr. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Five Points Community Church, 11805 Hwy 39, Zebulon, NC 27597.
