Doris Hollifield Mills, 63, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 21, 1953 in Wake County to the late James Lester Hollifield and Thelma Mae Smith Hollifield. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend who will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Surviving: husband of 45 years, Ronnie Mills; son, James Lee Mills of Selma; daughters: Grace Ann Perez (Lupe) of Durham and Doris Lynn Sims (Randy) of Clinton; grandchildren: Samantha (Alexis), Randy, Alexus, Suzanna, Gabriela, and Jimmy; great-grandchildren: Jose and Jionni; brother, Ralph Hollifield (Brenda) of Garner; sister, Faye Garrett of Alabama; lifetime best friend who was like a sister, Teresa Warden (Joe) of Candor; numerous nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers: Donald, John, Jimmy, Hubert, Charles, Fred Hollifield; and sisters: Helen Strickland, Bertha Hollifield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses.
