The phone call we got yesterday morning still doesn’t seem real. The blur of the past day and a half still doesn’t seem real. The range of emotions from sad to scared to angry to anguish to just plain numb...it doesn’t seem real that someone can feel all of those at one time. You’re only 28 years old Patrick. Your life should just be beginning. I guess in a way it is. The Lord called you to your forever home yesterday morning. While we know your eternal life, a life better than any of us could experience on this earth, is beginning...it’s hard to see past the hurt we’re feeling right now beginning our lives without you in it. We’ve seen nothing but water from the tears we’ve shed. We’ve heard nothing but silence when all we want to hear is your laugh one more time. We’ve stared at photos and prayed for just one more chance to see your smile again in person. Just as there no words to describe the hurt we are feeling, there are no words that are good enough to define you. Good natured, kind, hard-working, loving family member, selfless...I could name every positive attribute you possessed and none of these words would suffice to describe just how beautiful of a soul you were. We know where you are. We know you’re with our creator. We know the hurt you felt, the struggles you faced, and the demons you fought are no longer there. We know you’re at peace, but we still need you Patrick. We still need you to guide us through this, this learning to live without you. Please watch over us and guide us through these dark days we are facing. Please remind us when we break down because we miss you so much that we ARE going to see you again. Please remind us when we are feeling negative, of your attitude. No matter what curve balls life threw at you, you could see the positive in anything. That was one attribute most admired in you. Please remind us when we think of judging another that we have no idea what that person is going through and we need to just be kind because you always were. One thing you won’t have to remind us of though is how blessed we were to have you as a family member. We won’t ever forget that. We can thank God every day for having a better son, brother, cousin, nephew, and friend in 28 years than some people get in a lifetime. To all our friends and family reading this, please keep our family lifted in your prayers right now as we try to adapt to a new normal without Patrick. We will need your love and support for quite some time. We love you Patrick. We miss you so much already. We will see you again someday….too well loved to ever be forgotten.

Patrick is survived by his father, Michael George McCormick; mother, Robin Kelly Bailey (Brian); sister, Megan McCormick; step-brothers: Christopher Bailey (Meaghan), Robert Bailey; grandparents: Sue & Mike Morse; step-grandparents: Emogene Kelly, John & Sunny Bailey; uncles: Tim McCormick (Rose), Jeff Kelly, Lanney Taylor; aunt, Theresa McCormick; and his extended aunts, uncles and cousins.
