Wayne Luther Barnette

Wayne Luther Barnette, 83, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022. He was born June 4, 1938 in Perry County, AL to the late Luther Clifford Barnette and Marie Calhoun Barnette. He married the love of his life, Rebecca Clements Barnette on Dec. 27, 1962. Wayne moved to NC in 1966 and lived in Knightdale for 54 years where he was active in his church and community. He was a professional engineer and retired from NCDOT (Roadway Design Unit) and continued his career for 13 years in the private sector. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Becky; daughters: Rhonda Barnette Early (Troy) of Knightdale, Renee Barnette Barefoot (Reece) of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren: Chelsey Early Thompson (Mitchell), Ty Early (Morgan), Zach Barefoot and Sydney Barefoot; sister, Viva Dean Barnette Faught of Greensboro, AL. 

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jade Barefoot. 

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale with visitation to follow. 

A graveside service will take place at a later date at Waycross Bible Methodist Church in Alabama.
