Wallace Anderson Richardson

Wallace Anderson Richardson, 92, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022. He was born November 16, 1930 in Johnston County to the late Stephen Kirkman Richardson and Ida Lee Whitaker Richardson. Wallace was originally from Corinth Holders attending Corinth Holders Elementary School and then graduating from Needham Broughton High School. He entered the Navy in 1948 and honorably served for 4 years. He participated in the Korean War as a Seaman on the USS Southerland. He saw action during the Invasion of Incheon Bay. After his service he started his civilian career in 1953 with CP&L. He became an inspector in 1964 and retired after 42 years of service in 1995. He was married and devoted to Evelyn Mae Hinnant for 69 years. He attended and was an active member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church for over 47 years. He enjoyed dancing, sports, especially NC State football and yardwork was his hobby and passion. 

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 27, 2022 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home. 

Graveside inurnment will take place at Montlawn Memorial Park at a later date. 

He is survived by his sisters: Geneva R. Spencer, Margie R. Bumgarner (Don); and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hinnant Richardson; brothers: John B. Richardson, Stephen W. Richardson. 

The family would like to thank Cornelia Settle for the loving and devoted care she gave Wallace during his illness.
