Virginia (Hagwood) Davis

Virginia Hagwood Davis, 90, of 2545 Davistown Road died on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Transitions LifeCare. Affectionately known as Jenny, was the youngest daughter of Royal Milton Hagwood and Lillian Ernestine Mangum. Jenny graduated from Knightdale High School in 1949 and attended Carolina Beauty College. She loved helping people and retired from the medical profession. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, she was a receptionist at Raleigh Community Hospital and she also worked as a greeter with L. Harold Poole Funeral Service. Virginia enjoyed playing cards at the beach and at her bridge club. 

A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Bethany Baptist Church, 3417 Rolesville Road, Wendell. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. 

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Jones Davis; son, Samuel Richard Davis; daughters: Kathryn Dell Tims (Ray), Lillian Annette Israel (Don); grandchildren: Raymond Lindsey Tims, Jr., Jessica Leigh Israel, Elizabeth Dell Israel; great grandchildren: Taylor Elizabeth Israel, Zoe Camille Sims; special friends at her church: Ronnie & Nann Wheeler, Gwen Womble and the late Curtis Womble, Jo & Ron Tidwell, Elaine Price, Carol & Randy Denton. 

She is also survived by special cousins Jan and Jimmy Parker who have expressed so much love and support to Virginia as well as the family in helping them through this difficult time.

In addition to her parents Virginia was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, W.A. “Bill” Davis and Madge Jones Davis; sister, Ernie Harrell; niece, Elizabeth Ann Harrell.
