Velma Howard (Heath) Martin

Velma Howard Heath Martin, age 93, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, March 14, 2024. She was born September 4, 1930 in Greene County, NC to the late Walter L. Heath and Ethel Howard Heath. Velma retired after 20 years of service as a registered nurse with the NC Department of Human Resources. She was a proud graduate of Rex Nursing School and would tell you often, “once an RN, always an RN”. She always enjoyed sharing stories about her grandchildren and their families.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 pm at the church.

Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her son, Walter Carl Martin (Sandra); grandchildren: Jeffrey Scott Martin (Whitney), Bobby Carl Martin (Meredith), John Walter Martin (Erica), Savannah Stephens, Samuel Stephens; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Mason, Addie, Aubrey and Dallas.

In addition to her parents Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bell Martin; sisters: Hazel Heath Smith and Evelyn Heath Williams.
