Shirley (Thompson) Pearce

Shirley Ann Thompson Pearce, 83 passed away peacefully in her sleep at Transitions LifeCare on October 6, 2020 with her children by her side. Shirley was born on July 16, 1937 in Epson, NC to the late Jamie Thurston Thompson and Selma Lee Gupton Thompson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Jean Pearce; husband, Bob Reynolds Pearce; and 6 brothers and sisters: Bill Thompson, Arthur Thompson, Freddie Thompson, J. T. Thompson, Sallie Lou Gaulin and Ruby Lee Aycock.

Shirley graduated from Henderson High School in Henderson, NC. From there she became wife, mother, and grandmother. After Scott started school Mom went to work at Amoco. Then she went into sales with the “Shady Ladies” at Lamps and Shades and ended her career with Thompson Lynch Lamp Company of Raleigh. Mom enjoyed most anything with my Daddy…working at the State Fair selling corn on the cob, traveling with friends, playing cards, playing softball, watching Duke basketball or any ballgame for that matter, square dancing, cooking for the church, and working in her yard. Mom loved flowers as much as she loved to cook. But spending time with daddy, her children, and grandchildren would always come first.

Visitation: 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 13, 2020 and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at New Hope Baptist Church, 4301 Louisburg Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. Burial, Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, 7600 ACC Boulevard, Raleigh, NC 27617.

Surviving are her 3 children: Barbara P. Renie and husband, Jim; Keith R. Pearce and wife, Sherri C. Pearce, and Scott Pearce all of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Austin Pearce, Hunter Pearce, Zack and Taylor Coble, Katelyn Renie and Reynolds Pearce all of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Peggy P. Tucker also of Raleigh, NC.
