Robert Ellis Robey

Robert Ellis Robey, 82, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, after months of declining health. He was born February 5, 1940, in New Hampshire to the late George Ellis Robey and Anna Mary Sachs Robey. He was raised in Lancaster, PA and graduated from McCaskey High School. He continued his education at Franklin and Marshall College. He received his master’s and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Virology from the University of Maryland, College Park.  He retired from The University of Wisconsin where he worked as a Microbiologist. He loved photography, classical music and long walks with his dog. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Werntz Robey; his children: David (Shirley), John (Jade), Ann (Gene Faller), James (Kelly Powers); six grandchildren: Faith, Grace, Katharine, Eli, Lelia, and William; several nieces and nephews. 

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Knightdale Methodist Church, 7071 Forestville Rd Knightdale, NC on October 8, 2022, at 2:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knightdale Methodist Church.  .
