Nora Cecelia (Convery) Martinez

Nora Cecelia Convery Martinez, 74, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022, in Raleigh, NC. Born February 25, 1948, in Providence, R.I. and raised in East Greenwich, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Francis J.and Marguerite (McGraw) Convery.

Nora graduated from Bryant University with a degree in Business. After having worked at ITT Grinnel in Providence for several years as a financial analyst, Nora accepted a relocation offer from them to Raleigh, NC in 1980. Nora went on to become a certified paralegal, going to work for the NC Attorney General’s office, then later doing patent research for pharmaceuticals.

Nora began her dedication and service to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in Rhode Island in 1978, continuing in North Carolina until her passing. She was also actively involved outside the AA community, lending a helping hand to countless people in her life. Nora loved to cook, often volunteering to bring food to various events, and her baking skills were legendary. She was a friend to all and loved by many.

She leaves behind her brother, Michael L Convery; a nephew, Kelly M. Convery; a niece, Marguerite Convery Carniaux, and three grand-nephews: Francis A. Convery, Ozzy L. Convery, and Leon Carniaux, all of whom live in East Greenwich, as well as many loving cousins and friends in Rhode Island and North Carolina.

A service for Nora will be held at 10 a.m. on August 8, 2022, at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Knightdale, NC, where she will be buried alongside Eugene Mosely, who preceded her in death in 2016. Eugene was her long-time companion with whom she shared many wonderful years.
