Mary Grace (Poole) Ray

Mary Grace Poole Ray, 93, passed away at her home on Monday, April 12, 2021. She was born in Wake County on October 23, 1927 to the late Horace Poole and Syrama Jones Poole. Grace graduated from Rolesville High School and married the love of her life George Rocher Ray on June 8, 1946. They settled on Davistown Road in Wendell and she was a devoted farmer’s wife and a beloved mother. Grace was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she was active in the church choir, a Sunday school teacher, and served faithfully in the church as long as her health permitted.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Ray Friedman and husband Chuck; grandson, Jason Righter and wife Darlene; great-grandchildren: Morgan, Erika, Zachariah; and a sister, Alva Benton and husband Dan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was also preceded in death by her sons, Rocher Wayne Ray and Dewey Lane Ray; grandson, Karl Righter, Jr.; siblings: Dwight Poole, Bobby Poole, Lena Mae Perry, and Leola Gay.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 16, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist Church.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
