Mary Ann (Ellington) Matthews

Mary Ann Ellington Matthews, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020. She was born October 7, 1942 in Guilford County to the late Howard Ellington and Edna Paschal. Mary Ann worked in retail sales at Devil Dog in Zebulon. 

Memorial service 2:00 pm, Friday, January 24, 2020 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. 

The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and later at the home 203, Eaglewood Drive, Middlesex. 

Surviving: sons: Russell Eugene Brown (Becky), Bill Brown (Arren), Dale Matthews (Ginger); sisters: Virginia Garner, Betty Durham; grandchildren: Kelly B. Dounoucos (Alex), Justin Brown, Brandon Matthews (Jessica), Cindy Hauer (Spencer), Rachel Sherman (Alan); great-grandchildren: Kaylan Brown, Mason Sherman, Sara Sherman; sister-in-law, Sarah Ellington and a special friend, Jean Butts.    

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Matthews; brother, Bud Ellington. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Way, Raleigh, NC 27603.
