Martha Alice Fulghum

Martha Alice Pate Fulghum, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She was born June 2, 1941 in Wake County to the late Chester Erwin Pate and Jessie Leigh Smith Pate. She graduated from Broughton High School and earned her LPN license from Wake Tech. Martha retired after 29 ½ years with the NC State Government Employment Security Commission. 

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, January 21, 2023 at Longview Baptist Church, 2308 N New Hope Rd, Raleigh. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 pm in the church sanctuary.   

She is survived by husband of 64 years, Larry Bryant Fulghum; son, Michael Bryant Fulghum (Jeannette); daughter, Sarah Elizabeth F. Beall (Michael); grandchildren: Benjamin J. Fulghum (Mary), Lauren Michelle Beall, Wyatt Lee Fulghum; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Peggy Wood, Betsy Williams and Judy Gay; brother-in-law, Ernest Fulghum, Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her brother, Chester Lionel Pate and his wife, Ruby. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the music ministry at Longview Baptist Church.
