Marie Bright (Stephens) Harris

Marie Bright Stephens Harris, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023, after months of declining health. She was born April 23, 1944, in Guilford County to the late Edwin Bright Stephens and Irma Florence Dickens Stephens. Marie retired from Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center as their office manager and was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Sherri Harris Matheson and husband Patrick; her beloved granddaughters: Marley and Macy Matheson; sister, Vicki S. Murray; nephews: Michael Murray (Jenna) and Nicholas Murray (Stephanie).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Gardner Harris; son Curtis Gardner Harris, Jr.; and her daughter Dawn Marie Harris.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saving Grace Animals for Adoption P.O. Box 1649, Wake Forest, NC 27588.
