Lovie (Blackley) Puryear

Lovie Blackley (Pearce) Puryear of Zebulon, NC, transitioned to be with her Lord at 9:55 am on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. She was born May 27, 1932 to Julius L. Blackley and Gladys Bunn Blackley.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 809 W Gannon Ave, Zebulon with burial to follow.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the mausoleum chapel and other times at the home of Marie Hinton, 9630 Valley Road, Middlesex, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years and the father of her children Robert P. Pearce, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, S. Maynard Puryear; siblings: Florence Blackley, J. Lawrence Blackley, Wilbur E Blackley, Lillian B. Pearce, Elsie B Suppes, Estelle B. Baker, and Tillie B Puryear and a step-son, Donald Puryear.

Lovie leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Danny L. Pearce (Ophelia) of Lake Royale; daughter, Marie P Hinton (John) of Middlesex; and her sister, Faye B. Pearce of Zebulon. She is also survived by a step-son, Fred Puryear (Angela); grandchildren: Katina Jenkins, Jason Pearce (Amy), Jeremy Pearce, David Daniel (Julianne) and Matthew Hinton; great-grandchildren: Austin Pearce, Justin Pearce, Presley Hinton, Harper Hinton and Christopher Daniel; and a host of special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express their thanks to special caregiver, DJ Deem, the staff at Coventry House of Zebulon and Community Hospice for the care and support given in her final days.
