Lona (Hudnell) Jones Myrick

Lona Hudnell Jones Myrick, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. She was born April 11, 1929 in Wake County the only child to the late Samuel Alexander Jones and Vivian Hudnell Jones. She graduated in 1946 from Broughton High School and earned a two year degree from St. Mary’s Business College in 1947. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Women of the Word Sunday School class. She was a self-employed builder and real estate broker. 

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale with Pastor Ed Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home. 

She is survived by her children: Samuel Alexander Reames, Vivian Reames Edwards (Allan), Joel Anne Connors, Joel G. Reames, IV (Deborah); grandchildren: Michelle Edwards, Andrew Edwards (Deidre), Chris Edwards, David Edwards (Abigail), Jennifer Coby (Jacob), William Reames (Aubrie), Joel Robert Reames; great-grandchildren: Lucas, Katherine, Owen, Declan, Kaiden, Easton, Madison; step-children: Judy Hicks and her family and Billy Myrick and his family. 

In addition to her parents, Lona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve Myrick.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or the Raleigh Rescue Mission, 314 E Hargett St, Raleigh, NC 27601.
