Linda (Jones) Carswell

Linda Jones Carswell, 79, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021. She was born October 11, 1941 in Akron, Ohio to the late Alva Junior Jones and Vera Seevers Jones. Linda grew up in Williston, FL where she met her beloved husband, Bill. They moved to the Daytona Beach area where she spent her life serving at Westside Baptist Church and Riverbend Community Church. Linda was known in her churches for rocking babies and her Grandmommy blankies, that she lovingly handmade. After moving to North Carolina, she attended New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh. Linda had a servant’s heart and was the heart of her family who will dearly miss her. 

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William E. “Bill” Carswell Jr.; children: Teresa L. Vaughn (Keith), John E. Carswell (Cindy), Beth Lockamy (Brian); grandchildren: Rachel Carswell, Matthew Carswell (Sabrina), Nic Vaughn (Bethany), Naomi Landorf (Kade), Justin Lockamy (Anna), Josh Vaughn, Andrew Lockamy, Tyler Lockamy; great-grandchildren: Cullen and Leeland Carswell; brother, Michael Jones (Jane); sister, Bertha Cavin (Bill); sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cheek Jones; brother-in-law, Donald Carswell (Nancy); as well as many nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Rhonda Martin (Boyd). 

A service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held in Raleigh, NC and Ormond Beach, FL at a later date that will be announced via Facebook. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
