Lillian Sawyer McGregor passed away on June 30, 2021 after a short illness. She was born on April 23, 1935 and raised in Tuskegee, North Carolina. She enjoyed growing up with her brother, sisters, and many cousins. They were lifelong friends. Lillian enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, and traveling around the world.
Lillian married Lee McGregor in 1960 and they lived in Raleigh, NC most of their marriage. Lillian worked at Dorothea Dix Hospital until her retirement. After Lee’s death, she moved to Lexington, SC to be closer to her son.
We would like to thank the many friends and relatives that she enjoyed talking to and spending time with throughout her life and her most recent illness. Also, a special thank you to Agape Hospice and Senior Matters.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Evander Lee McGregor, Sr.; brother, Vernon Sawyer; sisters: Ina Shipman and Nell Sawyer. She is survived by her son, Van McGregor (Rose Mary); granddaughter, Lauren Hite (Travis); grandson, Andrew McGregor (Amanda), great-granddaughter, Emma Hite; and sister, Irene Matheson.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 701 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27601.
