Karen Elaine Barbee Billmyer, 68, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021. She was born August 21, 1953 in Greensboro to Jean Marsh Brown and the late David Monroe Barbee, Jr. Karen was one of the most kind and caring people you would ever want to meet. She never met anyone that she didn’t befriend and help in some way. After suffering a severe illness October 18, 2020, Karen was transported from Wake Med to the Brian Center in Clayton. After much physical therapy, she was able to move around in her wheelchair and became the “unofficial rolling ambassador”.
In addition to her mother, Jean and step-father, Billy Lee Brown she is survived by her husband John Wells Billmyer, Jr.; step-son, John Wells Billmyer III and wife, Amy; granddaughter, Lola Billmyer; brother-in-law, W. Todd Billmyer and wife, Vivian and their son, Jack; brothers: Brian Barbee, William Lee Brown; step-brother, Timothy Lee Brown.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, David; son, Michael Travis Mobley; daughter, Shawn Marie Adams; brothers: William Barbee, John Stuart; and her two special dogs, Bo and Deogee.
Karen’s wishes were that she be cremated and no services held.
