Joyce (Eason) Johnson

Joyce Eason Johnson, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020. She was born July 30, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Alphonso Eason and Blannie Gray Hinnant Eason. She graduated from Corinth High School in 1952. Joyce worked as a secretary for various insurance companies. She was a devoted member of Corinth Baptist Church for many years and served as church clerk. 

Joyce will lie in state on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. To adhere to the Governor’s Phase 2.5 regulations, social distancing and face masks are required. 

A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, 13450 NC 96 Hwy N, Zebulon. 

Joyce is survived by her daughters: Sandra “Sandy” Johnson Chrisawn, Deborah “Debbie” Johnson Swaringen, both of Raleigh; grandchildren: Angie Swaringen Murphy (Al), Chris Swaringen, Charlie Chrisawn (Corie); great-grandchildren, Connor and Carson Chrisawn. 

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray “C.R.” Johnson in 2003; brother, Wyatt Eason and Kenneth Eason; sister Daphne E. Raines. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
