John Daniel (Jr.) Snipes

John Daniel Snipes, Jr., 92, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022. He was born October 6, 1929 in Hertford County to the late John Daniel Snipes, Sr. and Elsie Harmon Snipes. He graduated from Woodland Olney High School in Woodland, NC. He came to work in Wake County for Harmon Volkswagen, where he retired with thirty seven years of service as sales manager. As long as his health permitted he was an active and devoted member of Green Pines Baptist Church where he was a charter member. John’s favorite pastime was watching baseball. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, Monday, June 20, 2022 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. 

Graveside service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Montlawn Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh with his son-in-law, Pastor Johnny Baker officiating. 

He is survived by son, John Daniel “Danny” Snipes III (Renate); daughter, Jan Snipes Baker (Johnny); grandchildren: Jamie Baker Lassiter, Julianna Baker Holland (Christian), Stephanie Snipes Tidwell (Andrew), Stacie Snipes Patrone (Nick), Sydnie Snipes; great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Asher, Saylor, Sterling, Sibbie, Graham, Griffin, Poppy, Nixon, Louie, Brennan, Andrew; great-great grandchild, Johnie Kate. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Griffin Snipes; sister, Jewel Snipes Bolton. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Green Pines Baptist Church, 1498 Hodge Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
