Jo Ann (Combs) Evans

Jo Ann Combs Evans, 87, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021. She was born November 5, 1933 in Tyrrell County to the late John Samuel Combs and Ruth Mildred Poston Combs. Jo Ann retired after forty years of service as a tax preparer for H & R Block. She also worked thirty plus years with N C State Fair, was an active leader with Scouts, Band Boosters and PTA. She was also a member of Knightdale United Methodist Church. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. 

A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Knightdale United Methodist Church, 7071 Forestville Road, Knightdale. 

She is survived by her children: Sandra Lee Evans of Wendell, John Edward Evans (Kimberly) of PA, Patricia Evans Craven (Bill) of Wendell, Susan Evans Crowder (Clyde) of Zebulon; grandchildren: Amy Evans, Jenny Franklin (Andrew), Allie Welch (Eric), Billy Craven (fiancé, Jennifer), Carolyn Lowery (Rusty), Brad Craven, Shannon Azzi (Nik), Jonathon Crowder, Matthew Crowder; great-grandchildren: Hannah Evans, Lily Franklin, Josie Welch, Asher Franklin, Reagan Welch, Silas Welch, Tyler Seagroves, Dylan Seagroves, Rusty Lowery, Faith Seagroves, Dahlia Azzi, Iona Azzi, Grace Huffstedtler, Lillian Huffstedtler, Felicity Huffstedtler, and Jackson Huffstedtler.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Evans; sister, Velva “Sister” Combs. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knightdale United Methodist Church.
