Jerry Eason

January 26, 1946 ~ March 25, 2021 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Obituary

Jerry Eason, 75, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was born January 26, 1946, in Johnston County to the late Edward Alton Eason and Cleo Grice Eason. Jerry honorably served his country in the US Army and later retired from the NC Department of Corrections in the electrical maintenance section.

A long-time area resident, he grew up and attended school in Knightdale where he knew almost everyone. He was the type who never met a stranger and seemed to know someone everywhere he went. He was also the type who was always willing to lend a helping hand which is how he met the love of his life, Ethel, helping her move into her new home in Ridge Haven.

We figure he must have been crazy or he really loved our mother because what man in his right mind would take on four kids aged 10 and under? Maybe it was a little of both. He provided plenty of love and support through the years.

In his younger years he was an avid softball player and spent many summer and spring weekends playing tournaments all over the state. He also enjoyed playing golf and fishing with friends and family.

Jerry also served as a long-time member of the Zebulon Masonic Lodge participating in numerous community service projects.

He is survived by his stepchildren: Wendy Lee Estes, Lynne Robin Estes, Michael John Estes, Jr. (Michelle), Nicholas Paul Estes; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Boykin; sister-in-law, Hettie Eason; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Ethel Delorise Mills Eason; sister, Glenda E. Murphy and brother, Percell Eason.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Please wear a face mask and practice social distancing to ensure everyone’s safety.
