Janet Faye (Montague) Gropp

Janet Faye Montague Gropp, 75, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023. She was born January 1, 1948 in Wake County to the late Archie James Montague and Annie Lee Poole Montague. Janet graduated in 1966 with the first graduating class at Vaiden Whitley High School. She worked as a professional nanny for twenty years. She also worked at the State Employees Credit Union and CP&L.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 am, Monday, March 20, 2023, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale with Pastor Jamie O’Brien. Graveside committal will follow at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Edward “Ed” Nold Gropp, Jr.; children: Matthew Nold Gropp, Justin Edward Russell (Julie); grandchildren: Marin Russell, Madeleine Russell, Maggie Gropp, Hunter Gropp, Miles Gropp; sisters: Nancy M. Massey, Sue M. Carpenter (David); nephew, Allen Massey (Lorie); nieces: Kelly Ennis (Jeremy), Holly Martin; special grand nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joshua Garland Gropp on August 24, 2021.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Melanoma Cancer Center in Durham for the care they gave to their beloved Janet.
