James Richard Scarboro

James Richard “J.R.” Scarboro, 74, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021. He was born August 11, 1946 in Wake County to the late James Ernest Scarboro and Josephine May Scarboro. J.R. retired from the NC Department of Cultural Resources in the accounting department. He also served as former secretary/treasurer with the NC BASS Federation for over 30 years. J.R. was a member of the Wendell Masonic Lodge #565 where he achieved his 50-year pin. He was a beloved husband and caregiver, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, Wendell with Masonic Rites.           

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the funeral home.

Surviving: wife, Cheryl Lane Arnold Scarboro; daughter, Amy Jo S. Tant (William); and his grandchildren: Rick Tant (Jessie), Beth Tant (Josh).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
