James Frederick “Freddie” Holland, 79, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at his home. He was born February 25, 1942 in Wake County to the late Thomas Avis Holland, Sr. and Julia Ruth Johnson Holland. Freddie honorably served in the Army National Guard of North Carolina from 1962 to 1968. He retired from IBM as a Senior Model Maker with 38 years of service.
Freddie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy Hilliard Holland; daughters: Deborah J. Douglas, Brenda H. Williams (David); grandchildren: Scott Douglas (Brandi), Daniel Douglas (Michelle), Dexter Douglas (Ashley), Megan Tanner (Brian), Brittney Cooke (Aaron); great-grandchildren: Skylar, Julian, Landon, Sophia, Dexter Jr.
In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Holland, Alton Holland; sister, Frances Barnes; and son-in-law, Mark Douglas.
An open viewing for Freddie will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Family will not be present for viewing.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Freddie’s memory.
