Harrison Eugene “Gene” Tiller, 82, passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 5, 2022 with his wife Elizabeth at his bedside. Gene died after a long battle with dementia.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Tiller and Ruth Tiller. He is also preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Tiller and his son David Tiller.
Gene was born in Rocky Gap, Virginia in 1939 but moved to Raleigh around 1965 to follow his career. He was a Roadway Design engineer with the North Carolina Dept of Highways for 30 years. He was a faithful husband to his wife Elizabeth for 40 years. He was also a faithful servant of the Lord with the Salvation Army Church giving service wherever he could.
Gene is survived by with wife, Elizabeth, and his sister: Janet Myers, Linda Browder and husband, John, Donna Fellows. He is also survived by his son, Michael Tiller and wife, Dawn; his grandchildren: Matthew Tiller, Kasey Tiller, Sarah Savage and husband, Mitchell, Kyle Tiller; as well as many nieces and nephews.

There was a private entombment service for the family that took place at Historic Oakwood Cemetery and Mausoleum in Raleigh on August 9, 2022.
