Gordon Wallace Deans passed away at the age of 86 on December 17, 2021 at his home.
Gordon was born on the family farm near the town of Middlesex, N. C., in Nash County, to the late Charles Curtis Deans and Sudie Strickland Deans. He served in the US Army for two years and was stationed in Alaska during the time it became the 50th state. He retired with 30 years of service as a forensic photographer with the NC Justice Dept./SBI. After retirement, he and his wife Willa, returned to Alaska while touring all 50 states and many national parks. As long as his health permitted he was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale with Dr. Richard Childress officiating. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612 with Military Honors.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Willa Bolton Deans; son, Richard W. Deans (Sharon), daughter, Lisa Ann Deans, and beloved grandson, Justin T. Deans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mildred Glover, and brother, Charles Deans.
