Faye (Lanier) Gardner

Faye Lanier Gardner, 87, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2021 after months of declining health. She was born January 19, 1934 in Pender County to the late Roy and Mary Ethel Lanier. Faye was a retired educator with 30 years of service, teaching in various public schools in Wake County and Forsyth County, Campbell College, and Hardbarger Business School. She was an accomplished author, having four of her books published. Faye was a dedicated member of St. James United Methodist Church in Raleigh. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be dearly missed.   

Faye is survived by her beloved husband, James Robert Gardner; daughter, Suzanne G. Wrenn and husband David Wrenn; son, Jeffrey Gardner; grandchildren: Taylor W. Becerra and husband Daniel Becerra, Anna Gardner; great grandsons, Brett, Luke and Dominic Becerra sisters: Lois L. Huffman, Hazel L. Smith; brother, Wayne Lanier and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 14, 2021 at St. James United Methodist Church, 3808 St. James Church Road, Raleigh. 

A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. James United Methodist Church in Carson Hall. 

The family kindly asks that you wear a face covering and practice social distancing to ensure everyone’s safety.     

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Methodist Church.
