Faye (Bailey) Croom

Faye Croom, 82, of Pawleys Island, SC went to join her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 7, 2021 after a brief and sudden illness.  Faye was born in Kenly, NC to the late Amon and Lula Edwards Bailey.  She was preceded in death by her late husband J. B. Croom, five sisters Elsie Hall, Pearl Tessinear, Linnie Howell, Hazel Perry, Alice Jean Bailey, and two brothers J.B. Bailey and Raymond Bailey.

Mrs. Croom is survived by her three sons: Robert Dale and wife, Michelle of Salisbury, NC (Ashley, Dustin, and Ella), Gregory Gene of Concord, NC (Daniel and Rebecca) and Christopher Allen and wife, Megan of NYC (Chase); stepdaughter, Ruthann Croom Barnes of Atlantic Beach, NC; brother, Billy W. Bailey and wife, Sherri of Zebulon, NC; 6 great-grandchildren; many special nieces, and nephews.

Faye enjoyed making everyone happy. She was a homemaker, cook, Sunday school teacher, sports enthusiast, and sideline coach (golf, bowling, baseball, football, all things sport related) for all three sons, supporter of her late husband’s early racing career, and assisted in managing their family-owned businesses – Hess Stations and Fantastic Sam’s. In later years, Faye spent 20 years at Captain Dick’s Marina in Murrells Inlet, SC. Her favorite pastime was fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves, cooking for family, church on Sunday and assisting those that could not help themselves including the furry ones. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and cat Hobby. Faye was loved by all that knew her.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Debbie (Skeet) and Bobby Austin for all their love and support in the many trips to Duke over the years.  Also, the Medical team at Tidelands Waccamaw Hospital in Murrells Inlet, SC, and Faye’s many friends at St. Elizabeth Place in Pawleys Island, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

A private family service will be held at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Zebulon, NC.
