Obituary

Everette Lee Turner, Sr., 88, of Zebulon and Emerald Isle, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 18th, 2022. Everette was born in Castalia, North Carolina on October 26th, 1933. He graduated from Spring Hope High School and went into the Air Force for four years. Upon his return in 1957, he served as a Raleigh Police Officer for several years before working for Carolina Trailways and Yellow Transportation - retiring in January of 2007. Everette was married to Elaine Love on February 1, 1958 at Four Oaks Baptist Church. They celebrated their 64th anniversary this year. 

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Turner, their three children: Everette Lee Turner, Jr. (Celeste) of Zebulon, NC, Philip Turner (Jennifer) of Richmond, VA, and Lisa Rabon (Sammy) of Emerald Isle, NC; their seven granddaughters: Chelsea Jones (Dock) of Wendell, NC, Lindsey Land (Ryan) of Richmond, VA, Olivia Turner of Zebulon, NC, Hannah Turner of Richmond, VA, and Taylor, Allyson, and Mackenzie Rabon of Emerald Isle, NC; and their great grandson, Everette “Rhett” James of Wendell, NC; and his furry friends Ace and Kreme. 

Everette, more affectionately known as Paw Paw by his seven granddaughters and greatgrandson, loved his family fiercely and always said he was the “richest man in the world” because of them. Everette was a lifelong member of Samaria Baptist Church, where he served asa deacon and enjoyed fellowship with lifelong friends. He will always be remembered by hislove for game shows, westerns and playing bingo & trash with his family. 

Everette was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Ethel Turner of Castalia, NC; and his brother, Nelson Turner (Helen) of Knightdale, NC. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 1st at Samaria Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC at 2 pm, visitation with the family to follow. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Samaria Baptist Church, 3621 Poole Rd, Raleigh, NC.
