Elizabeth (Narron) Starling

Elizabeth Narron Starling, 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at home and surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, James Keith Starling. She was the daughter of the late Willie Oscar (W.O) and Bonnie (Sissie) Narron of Middlesex, NC. She was also preceded in death by three wonderful brothers and two sister-in-laws: M.A. Narron, Brandel and Violet Narron, John and Vileigh Narron. Elizabeth leaves behind two daughters, two wonderful son-in-laws, three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. Dale Starling Naylor (Steve Naylor), Dewanda Starling Sholar (Mark Sholar), Lindsey Naylor, Madison Sholar, Heather Sholar Dailey (Adam Dailey), Elijah, Finn and Savannah Dailey. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Gertrude Narron, Ruth Woodall, Marie Honeycutt and brother-in-law Nathan Starling. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with a very special friend, Libby Lovitt and a “third daughter”, Rose Roebuck. 

Elizabeth Starling graduated from Corinth Holders High School and Hoyles Business College. She worked for the NC Department of Transportation, NC Employment Security Commission and retired from the NC Department of Human Resources Disability Determination services in June 1993.  She was a Sunday School teacher at Antioch Baptist Church in Johnston County, NC. She attended St. James United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class and Ruth’s Circle. She also volunteered in numerous areas of the church community which allowed her to serve her church family. Elizabeth was also a member of Millbrook Eastern Star Chapter 293. 

A funeral service will be held at 1.00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45 pm at the funeral home.
