Edna LaRue Whitley

Edna LaRue Whitley, 83, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021. She was born March 23, 1938 in Johnston County to the late Leon Preston Whitley and Annie Lucille Woodard Whitley. Edna graduated from Corinth Holders High School in 1956. She retired after 21 years of service with Nationwide Insurance Company.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 pm, Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Baptist Tabernacle Church, 1599 NC 231, Wendell, NC 27519. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W. Gannon Avenue, Zebulon, NC 27597. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 11:00 to 11:45 am in the church fellowship hall.                     

She is survived by daughter, Robbin Atkinson (Mike); sons: Glenn Ray Raper (Anna), Terry Wayne Raper; grandchildren: Travis Raper, Tim Norris, Amanda Williams; great-grandchildren: Adelyn Williams, Miranda Raper; sisters: Linda W. Strickland, Janice W. Hill, Clara W. Hocutt, Kathy W. Smith

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brittney Boykin; brother, Jimmy Whitley.
