Dorothy (Aikens) Bridgers

Dorothy Aikens Bridgers, 70, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022. She was born December 10, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Edward Aikens and Gladys Ellis Aikens. Dorothy graduated from Campbell University and attended Watt School of Nursing. She graduated with a nursing degree and worked as a registered nurse at Dorothea Dix Hospital and WakeMed. 

A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, August 12, 2022 at the funeral home. 

She is survived by her son, Anton Aikens Sr.; grandchildren: Jakill Aikens, Tarresha Aikens, Anton Aikens Jr., Stephanie Aikens, Shaquana Aikens, Tobias Aikens, Tiffany Thompson; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Aikens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and adopted sisters and brothers. 

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her grandson, Bryson Prince and sister, Odessa Bogin.
