Doris Black Walters, 90, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Wake Med. She was born January 30, 1931 in Mecklenburg County, one of eight children, to the late Ernest Lee Black and Ella Springs Black. Doris and her siblings were raised on Black’s Dairy Farm in Charlotte, NC, where they worked alongside their parents. She graduated from Berryhill School in Charlotte in 1950. Doris married the love of her life, James Moffett Walters Sr., who preceded her in death on August 13, 2015.
Doris is survived by her children: Jim Walters, Barry Walters, Donna W. Cox (Mike), Brenda Killette (Blake), grandchildren: Jason Cox (Angela), Adam Cox (Casey), Emily Killette, Jared Killette; great-grandchildren: Zaven Cox, Jacob Cox, Evan Cox, and Lucas Cox.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Ernest Lee, Henry, Harry, Query, Wesley, Christine, and Ann.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, Monday, April 5, 2021 at New Hope Worship Center, 452 Brookwood Avenue NE, Concord, NC 28025 with a memorial service to celebrate her life to follow.
