Doris (Sherron) Partin

Doris S. Partin, age 98, of Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary for twenty years, passed away peacefully at Glenaire on September 7, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones after a very brief illness.  She was a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church for more than 70 years, active in Sunday School, the Women’s Missionary Union, and served as Chairman of the Bereavement Committee for decades, reaching out in love and ministry to bereaved church members and their families.  Doris loved her church, her family and many forms of sewing and other crafts.  Anyone who knew her, or knew of her probably still has a “Doris” hand-sewn purse, jewelry bag, gift bag, quilt and a multitude of other hand-crafted items. 

She graduated from Hoyles Business College, where she met the love of her life, Alfred B. Partin, to whom she was married for 72 years.  She attended NC State University from 1970 – 1975, and was employed by J. Gordon Riddick, CPA firm as Administrative Manager for 37 years. 

She is survived by her son, Randy Alfred Partin and wife Sandra; grandson Matt Partin; granddaughters Laura Terry (Tim), Callie Wright (Jimmy), Morgan Capps (Russ); and eight great grandchildren and goddaughter, Dr. Sophia Rummell. Her youngest sister, Katherine Hester (Eugene) also survives her.  Doris (aka “Nana”) was adored by her family and all who knew her.  Her standard greeting of “Hey Shug”, followed by “I love you so good” will live in the hearts of all who knew her forever. 

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred B. Partin (2014); her brothers Billy Sherron, Bobby Sherron and Fred Sherron; and her sister, Melba Baker.  The family is forever grateful to the staff at Glenaire for their professional care and their true love of our Mom, whom they all called “Shug”. 

A service to celebrate the life of Doris will be held on Saturday, September 18th, 2:00 pm at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, and will be live-streamed by the church.  The live-stream service can be accessed via the Hayes Barton Baptist website https://www.hbbc.org/featured-services.  

Inurnment service for the immediate family will take place afterwards at the Hayes Barton Baptist Columbarium.  Unfortunately, due to COVID and the desire to keep all of Doris' friends and family safe, there will be no visitation before or after the service.
