June 27, 1943 ~ December 27, 2021 (age 78)

Donald Joe Anderson, 78, died Monday, December 27, 2021 in San Miguel de Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Donald Joe Anderson was born in Dayton, Ohio and brought up in Dayton and nearby Gratis. He was graduated from Dayton's Walter E. Stebbins High School in 1961. After service in the US Army he began his career in the grocery business as a meat cutter with Kroger, continuing on as manager there and with Fulmers in Xenia, Ohio, then moving on to a succession of assignments helping businesses enter new markets. These included bringing a collaboration between the Schnucks grocery chain with Walgreens drug stores into Southern Indiana, and Kroger’s into the southeastern US and particularly to Charleston, South Carolina. Perhaps the apex of his career was his work helping establish The Sultan Center's extensive retail and restaurant operations in and around Kuwait City. After the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, he returned to the US, working with Harris Teeter in North Carolina before his retirement.

He is predeceased by his parents Golden and Lillian; and his brother Robert.
