David Massey Stell

David Massey Stell, Sr., 60, of Wendell, died Thursday, February 3, 2022, at home.  He was born May 4, 1961, in Wake County to Dexter Emmitt Fletcher Stell, Jr. and Linda Massey Stell.  He graduated from East Wake High School and studied at Pitt Community College. David retired from the Raleigh Fire Department as a Captain.   He was a life-long airplane pilot, completing his first solo flights on his 16th birthday. He loved motorcycles, boats and airplanes. One of his favorite things to do was to cook for a crowd. 

He was a bold Christian, glad to share Jesus, his Lord and Savior.  David was a committed husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, as well as, a devoted friend to many.   He was loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed. 

Surviving: wife, Michelle Davis Stell; son, David Massey Stell, Jr.; daughter, Jessica Laine Stell; grandchildren, Sailor-Laine Stell and Mary-Massey Stell; sister, Robin S. Baker and her husband Marshall; sister-in-law, Nancy B. Stell. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dexter E. Stell, III.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 3:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
