David Sasser Salmon, 73, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 4, 1948 in Johnston County to the late Marshall Salmon and Helen Benson Salmon. David honorably served his country in the US Army 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained during his service time. He retired from Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals with 36 years of service and operated the family business, Earp’s Seafood Market, for over 15 years. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. For anyone unable to attend, the funeral service will be livestreamed and can viewed at poolefuneral.com under David’s tribute.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Earp Salmon; daughters: Kelly S. Mitchell, Kimber S. Stewart (Dan); grandchildren: Katelyn Pruitt (Matt), Presley Stewart and girlfriend, Lena; sisters: Sylvia Johnson, Edith Tyndall, Kay Jernigan.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Byrd.
