In Loving Memory of David Paul Millette Jr.
June 1, 1996 - September 1, 2023
David Paul Millette Jr., affectionately known as Davey or Mullet, brought endless joy and warmth into the lives of those who knew him. Born on June 1, 1996, he was a beloved son, brother, and uncle who left us far too soon, passing away on September 1, 2023.
David's heartwarming spirit was a beacon of light in the lives of his family. He leaves behind his devoted parents, Dave and Tracy Millette, his loving sister, Katey [Derek] Millette, and his cherished nephews, Alex Millette and Keegan Neri, along with his girlfriend, Jessica Oriente, his doting grandparents, Gail and Don Webster, and his brother-like friends, Nathan Tusler and Jack Mueller. To his family, he was not just a son, brother, or uncle; he was the embodiment of love, laughter, and boundless generosity.
In his professional life, Davey made an indelible mark as the General Manager/Managing Partner of Midwood Smokehouse in Raleigh. His leadership transformed the workplace into a family, where colleagues became beloved friends. Davey's impact extended far beyond the restaurant's walls and into the community, where his kindness, infectious smile, and unwavering support for local causes left an immeasurable legacy. The void he leaves in both the restaurant and the community is immense, a testament to the profound influence he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Davey was more than a friend to many; he was the life of the party, the one who could turn any gathering into a memorable celebration. His laughter and vibrant personality made him the heart and soul of every gathering. He had an unparalleled ability to make everyone feel included, ensuring that no one ever felt like an outsider. Davey's presence was a gift that lit up the room, and his zest for life was contagious. He also cherished his role as an uncle, relishing every moment spent with his nephews and bringing boundless joy to their lives.
A true optimist, Davey lived life with an unwavering positive outlook. He believed in the goodness of people and had an innate sense of giving. He was a giver, not a taker, always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Davey would give the shirt off his back without hesitation, exemplifying the selflessness that defined his character.
A celebration of David's life will take place on Monday, September 4th, at Standard Beer & Food in Raleigh from 4 PM to 7 PM. Additionally, a memorial service to honor him will be held on Tuesday at 7 PM at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory in Knightdale. Visitation will begin at 6 PM at the funeral home. We invite all those whose lives he touched to join us in remembering and celebrating the beautiful soul that was Davey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.ORG) in David's memory, continuing his legacy of generosity.
In the midst of their grief, the Millette family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love and support they have received from the community. The outpouring of kindness, comforting words, and heartfelt gestures has been truly touching, and it serves as a testament to the lasting impact that David Paul Millette Jr. had on so many lives. They would like to extend a special thanks to Cov DeRamus, who not only offered his friendship but also served as a mentor and source of inspiration for Davey throughout his working career.
To the Neuro ICU team at Wake Med, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your tireless efforts and dedication to saving Davey's life did not go unnoticed, and we deeply appreciate everything you did during this difficult time.
Though David may no longer be with us in person, his boundless love, positivity, and zest for life will forever be etched in our hearts. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved beyond measure and will be remembered with endless affection. Davey's spirit will continue to inspire us to be kind, inclusive, and to live life to the fullest.
