Carolyn Thompson Bartholomew, 76, a long-time resident of Rolesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022. She was born at Rex Hospital in Raleigh on November 8, 1945 to James Plyler Thompson and Helen Marshall Thompson.
As owner of Wake Monument Company, Carolyn was devoted to helping grieving families in their time of need. She was equally devoted to Rolesville Baptist Church, where she was a member for 58 years. Her dedication to the music program through adult choir, handbell choir and children’s choir brought her great joy. Though she will be sorely missed, she passed just as she lived: on her own terms.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben Bartholomew as well as her parents, James and Helen Thompson and brothe,r Jimmy Thompson.
Carolyn is survived by her sons: Ron Bartholomew and wife, Susan, Dave Bartholomew and wife, Denise; daughter, Cathy Bartholomew Batts and husband, Michael; granddaughter, Claudia Batts; brother, Ralph Thompson and wife, Sue Ellen; sister, Sandra Thompson; brother-in-law, Richard Bartholomew and sisters-in-law: Joyce Cooper Bartholomew, Kathy Seric Thompson. In addition she leaves a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale on Thursday, May 26th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Funeral will be in the sanctuary at Rolesville Baptist Church, 203 E Young St, Rolesville at 11:00 am Friday, May 27th. Burial to follow at Rolesville Baptist Church cemetery immediately following the service.
