Callie Elton Denton, 84, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Laurels of Forest Glenn. Elton was born September 20, 1936 in Franklin County to the late Henry Jasper Denton and Lula Patterson Denton. He was a mechanic and auto body technician specializing in custom painting trucks. Elton worked at O’Neal Motors, Ford Trucks Inc. and Mac Trucks.
Elton is survived by his son, Curtis Lynn Denton (Ann) of Raleigh; daughters: Cynthia D. Tusler (Brian) of Wendell, Christy D. Jeffreys (Jay) of Raleigh, Celia D. Horton (Glen) of Wendell; grandchildren: Charee Jackson (Brad), Erik Woodard, Brittney Handel (Nick), Audrey Alford, Kekulani Norris (Scott), Keano Denton, Danielle Jeffreys, Jackson Jeffreys (Lauren), Callie Jean Ferrell (James), Joshua Horton (Emily), Jacob Horton (Kasi); great-grandchildren: Kai, Kaleah, Kaleo, Kapunani, Braden, Charlie Grey, Asher, Averi Jean, Landon, Phoebe, Junior, Jesse Ray, Bristol, Liam, Wyatt, Owen, and Paisley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Penny Denton; brothers: Jesse Denton and Frank Denton, sister, Mary D. Warlick; and a great-grandson, Keola “Lil-Man” Denton.
A private graveside service will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in Elton’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
