Bobby Fred Smith

Bobby Fred Smith, 77, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 after months of declining health. He was born May 21, 1944 in Asheville, NC to the late Fred Coen Smith and Minnie Lou Robinson Smith.

Bobby served in the US Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1967. He retired from Gregory Poole Equipment on May 19, 2006 with 38 years of service. He was a member of Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church and the Bethel Sunday School Class.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Strickland Smith; his two sons and their wives, Chris and Eva Smith and Scott Smith and Monica Shabo; his precious granddaughter, Christina, who was the apple of Pa’s eye and he loved dearly; his sister, Brenda Lee Smith of Clayton; and his brother, Billy Wayne Smith of Wendell.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lou Smith.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3328 Forestville Road, Raleigh, NC 27616. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church Building Fund.
