Benjamin “Ben” Bernard Dew, 77, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021. He was born December 10, 1943 in Nash County to the late Dennis Arrington Dew and Nannie Brantley Dew. Ben graduated from Bailey High School and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He retired as a Captain from the City of Raleigh Fire Department with 28 years of dedicated service. Ben was a faithful Christian devoted to his family and service to others.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 15, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. For anyone unable to attend, the chapel service will be live streamed and can be viewed by clicking the live stream link below. Burial with military honors will follow at Bailey Town Cemetery.
For anyone wishing to pay their respects, there will be an open viewing from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Thursday, January 14, 2021 (family will not be present) at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory.
Surviving: son, Brian Dew (Teresa); daughter, Karen Dew Hughes (Bryan); grandchildren: Evan Mitchell Dew (Tiffany), Brian Joseph Dew, Kenan Bernard Dew, Addison Noelle Hughes, Anna Elizabeth Hughes; brother, Bobby Dew (Shirley); sisters: Patricia D. Finch, Nancy D. Fowler, and Penny D. Jackson (Bill).
In addition to his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Rae Barlow Dew; and a sister, Gloria D. Morris.
