Barbara Jean (Barney) Hansen

Barbara Jean Hansen, 88, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022. Barbara was born in Winston-Salem, NC and moved to Raleigh, NC making Raleigh her home until she went to be with the Lord. In 1971, she successfully started M H Nursing Service, one of the first home care agencies in Wake County. For over thirty years, with love and dedication she assisted seniors in receiving quality home care. Spending time with family and friends meant everything to her. She enjoyed reading the Bible, watching WWE wrestling, cooking shows, westerns and talking on the phone.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 3, 2022 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Hansen; brother, Rondal Barney; father, Floyd Barney; mother, Lillian Craig; and son-in-law, Jack Williams.

Surviving family members: children: Bobbie Williams, Randy Barney, and Lynn Barney; grandchildren: Jennifer Watson and husband, Derek and their children: Dale and Lane; Kimberly Allison and husband, Phillip and their children: Anthony, Emilia, Cecilia; Matthew Robinson; Dianna Brewer and husband, Chris and their children: Hunter, Casey, Rowan, Penelope; loving sister, Glenda Robinson and husband, David, Sr. and their children: David Jr. and Melissa; loving long-time friends: Vernice Johnson and Bettie Collins.

A special thank you to Alignment Health Care, Dr. Wolk, Mary Catherine and staff. Her favorite cardiologist, Dr. Mohit Pasi.

Barbara’s (Mom’s) presence, energy, love and phone calls will be cherished and missed. May God cradle her in His arms. We will always love and miss her.
