Ajeurai Ciara Hands

May 5, 1976 ~ May 3, 2022 (age 45) 45 Years Old

Obituary

Ajeurai Ciara Hands was called home to be with The LORD on May 3, 2022 at her home in Zebulon, North Carolina. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 5, 1976 to Wesley Tyrone Hands, Sr. and Arvyette Michele Hands (Patterson). Ajeurai graduated from the Norfolk Academy in Norfolk, Virginia in 1992 (at age 16). She attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. for a brief period before enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves. After discharge from the Army Reserves, Ajeurai continued her undergraduate studies at Old Dominion University. From there, she transferred to The College of William & Mary, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in History. She went on to complete her Juris Doctorate at The Marshall-Wythe School of Law at William & Mary. Ajeurai passed her Bar Exam on her first try.  She has subsequently worked as an attorney within corporate America. Ajeurai’s particular area of expertise was Contract Management. She had just left Cloud Factory, an IT/Robotics firm where, working as a Senior Contract Manager, she won global and regional awards, for an even more challenging position at ForeScout, a cybersecurity firm. Ajeurai is described as a sweet soul. Her nature was amiable. She was pleasant with everyone, fun to be around, and had a great sense of humor. Her smile and laughter could light up a room. Wit and integrity were her trademarks. Ajeurai would give you the shirt off her back, and not expect anything in return (her generosity was genuine). She knew the value of true friendship, and if you were her friend, she would be there for you through thick and thin. There came to be an “old soul” quality about Ajeurai, an undeniable wisdom gained from years of trial and tribulation. She refused to compromise values she held dear, despite all that life threw at her. Perhaps not an angel, Ajeurai consistently maintained an innocence about life, as she valiantly strove to remain true to herself. She absolutely loved adding to her wealth of knowledge, watching documentaries continually, researching and learning about various topics. She loved history most of all. And it can’t help to be said that, anyone who knew Ajeurai also knew that she was the apple of her mother’s eye. Reared in the fear and admonition of The LORD from early childhood, Ajeurai believes in God; Dear JESUS is her Savior; and, as promised by her Father in Heaven, peace and rest from the sorrows and disappointments of this world are her just reward.

Ajeurai is survived by her beloved and cherished mother, Arvyette Michele Patterson; two pet babies: Polo and Niko; her godfather, Thomas L. Wadley, Jr.; her godmother/Auntie-Momma, Thomasine Dawson-Parker; two special cousins: Von Banks and Vann Wiggins; and her best friend and true sister of 24 years, Nikita Casanova (Tate). Ajeurai was predeceased by her grandfather, Guy M. Patterson Sr.; her grandmother, Ruth B. Patterson; and her uncle, Guy M. Patterson Jr. She will be remembered and missed by a host of family, friends and colleagues.
