It is with great sadness that the family of Wilbert “Bert” McDonald Greene, 88, of Raleigh announce his passing on Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born February 12, 1929 in Nash County to the late Jesse W. Greene and Winnie Braswell Greene. Wilbert honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was an Engineering Technician at Westinghouse retiring after over 31 years of service.

Service to celebrate his life 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel with Military Honors, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place following the service at 1:00 pm, Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, 7600 ACC Blvd. Raleigh, 27617.   

Surviving: wife of 66 years, Sarah “Frances” Vaughan Greene; daughter, Julia G. Zeigler and husband Craig of Youngsville; son, Burt Greene of Raleigh; grandchildren: Jessica Zeigler Jones and husband Will of Chicago, Jarrett Zeigler of Youngsville; great-grandchildren: Barrett Jones and Jaxon Zeigler. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
